While a sweet tooth may come knocking you out of your weight loss goals, it doesn’t have to! This post will share 5 easy chia pudding recipes that support your health while providing the sweet satisfaction you crave!

Healthy Chia Puddings

Chia seeds are popping up all over Instagram these days. In everything from smoothies, to salad, to pudding…chia seeds have got it going on.

Creating much fanfare on the superfood scene, I started getting curious when my friends were consistently raving about the amazing benefits of chia seeds.

Once I researched the health benefits myself, it didn’t take me long to start putting them everywhere! Especially PUDDING! There’s just something about that deliciously thick and creamy mixture that keeps me coming back for more.

Now, there’s a risk for chia puddings to be a bit bland. That’s why I’ve compiled these extra delicious, not-bland-at-all, top 5 chia seed recipes for YOU!

Are There Different Types of Chia Seeds?

There are actually two types of chia seeds; black and white. Black chai seeds usually have a slightly higher protein content. While white chia seeds are higher in Omega-3 fatty acid.

The difference isn’t exactly noticeable, and I wouldn’t recommend one over the other. It’s more a matter of how you’d like your pudding to appear. Do you prefer obviously chia, or a more subtle superfood look?

Is Chia Pudding Good For Weight Loss?

Yes, chia pudding can be great for weight loss. Mostly because chia seeds are jam-packed with fiber! Two tablespoons of chia seeds have 10 grams of fiber which is already 40% of the recommended intake. Can you believe that?

Because diets that are high in fiber are often liked to weight loss, chia pudding can definitely help you lose weight. But there’s a catch! Chia seeds are relatively high in calories so they should always be consumed in moderation.

The four basic ingredients for a chia pudding recipe, separated on a counter, including chia seeds, pure maple syrup, vanilla extract, and milk.

Is It Okay To Eat Chia Pudding Everyday?

You can absolutely eat chia pudding everyday, in moderation. This comes from first hand experience because my family loves it!

When making chia pudding, you need to also consider the ingredients you use. If you’re adding tons of syrup and sugar, I wouldn’t recommend eating it frequently.

But, as long as you use healthy ingredients, you can feel good about enjoying this tasty (and nutritious) treat daily.

Do Chia Seeds Make You Poop?

You heard right! Chia seeds are a good source of soluble fiber which helps to keep your pooping schedule regular.

Also, when the seeds come into contact with water…notice how a gel forms around it? That gel actually absorbs the water which will soften the stools and make them easier to pass.

While eating chia seeds is encouraged at any time of day, they are excellent to eat in the morning to provide an extra digestion boost and improved bowel movement.

Why Is My Chia Pudding Runny?

Usually when your chia pudding is runny it means you’ve either used too little chia seeds or too much liquid. For a thick and creamy chia pudding, I suggest using around 1/4 cup of chia seeds.

*Let them sit for around 5-10 minutes before whisking them again to prevent clumping.

How To Make Chia Pudding Taste Good

With a few strategically chosen ingredients, you can make your chia pudding taste amazing. Include something savory or sweet and your chia pudding will have that extra oomph!

Here are some of my favorite additions:

  • Spices: y’all know I’m a spice girl, so of course I add them to my chia puddings! Personal faves include cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. You can never go wrong with those three!
  •  Nut butter: Get nutty, literally! Top your chia pudding with some nut butter or stir it in. Whether you use almond butter, cashew butter, or even peanut butter, it’s going to be tasty!
  • Fruits: For those who aim to reduce their processed sugar intake, adding fruits is the perfect natural sweetener. Try mashing in banana to enhance its creamy texture.
  • Chocolate: Has anyone told you recently that chocolate is always a good idea? Well, here’s a reminder! Unsweetened cacao powder is an excellent addition to creamy desserts.
  • Matcha: Who says you can’t double down on superfoods in one dish? Jazz up the flavor of your chia pudding with some matcha…for a matcha made in heaven!
  • Coconut: Need I say more? For that rich and tropical flavor, sprinkle some shaved coconut on top or splash it with some coconut milk.
